Goodbye Lopez

Today is my last day on the wonderland of Lopez.  I will miss it, and the people I've had the opportunity to meet and the things I've experienced and the places I've seen!

Yesterday, Jerry and Paul did a little bit of diving.  Jerry had to replace the zinc on a friend's fishing boat and Paul went into the water as well, to test out his new wetsuit.

 The harbor.

Beautiful weather, water was like glass.
Jerry getting suited up in his drysuit.

Ker-plunk!

Jerry's patient, the fishing vessel "Bernice."

WAIT!  Is that a harbor seal???

NO!  It's Super Paul!

No, it's Mike Nelson from "Seahunt!"

The seal returns to the water.
10 Points!

After the job was done, the boys goofed around...

...marvelling at how warm and dry they both were in their respective suits.  Too funny!

After changing, we hopped into Jerry's trusty truck and we drove around and ended up at "Horsedrawn Farms," a beautiful produce and livestock farm where all labor is done by horsepower.

"YUM" is an understatement!

Just one of several chest-freezers full of organic beef, pork and lamb.

Jerry, why are you looking so guilty?  You DID pay for your squash, right?

"Git along, mule!"

After all those festivities, we ventured into the barn...

The actual tillers and plows used on the farm.
Uh-oh, did Paul step in something stinky???

 A GIANT sow!  Oink!

The guardian of the barn, the Alpha Rooster!

 Plow harnesses and other tack.
Jan feeling at home in the barn.

 Mama sow.

Alpha Rooster with his brood.

We ended up at The Galley for drinks, some scallop ceviche and a wonderful dinner before retiring for the night.

Mahalo Jerry, for your generosity, hospitality, and laughs!  Lopez Island does ROCK!

Next stop...San Francisco!
