Paul and Jan Explore Truckee, Part One

At about noon, we decided to do a hike called "Five Lake," in the plateau that is between Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley.

Jan "glowing" with heat coming off her body...it's now about 90 degrees!

Paul looking casual, but you can't see the sweat dropping off his ears!
"Honey, are we having fun yet???  My knee hurts..."

The views were indeed beautiful, but we unanimously decided to cut the hike short and do a mountain bike ride along the river instead to a restaurant called "River Ranch."

Jan on her rented mountain bike, chugging along the Truckee River towards a burger and a beverage!

The patio at River Ranch where we got our grub.  There was also a nice swimming area where the river rafts also came down.

Stopping to take a photo on our way back to...

 Squaw Valley!

A photo of the mountain-top tram heading up to the top.
Paul thinks this is a great photo of the "No Parking" sign...I waited 12 minutes for the tram to leave the building so I could take the photo.
:o/

Another shot of the village.

It was so hot in the Olympic Village, we decided to go jump into Donner Lake, a short drive away.

We came upon a sailing class for kids, using little dinghies called "Pico."
The kids showed great teamwork in hauling these out of the water.
Paul wanted to take one as a dinghy for Pink Cloud...

"Ah, that feels good!"

"What??? 68 degree water???"

Jan went for it, and just dove in.
It actually felt SO refreshing and I wasn't eager to get out!

We were dry in minutes and totally refreshed and rejuvenated.
Barely used the "Hello Kitty" towel.

Tomorrow, we hang out with Dr Jack!
