Back To Civilization!

"We are currently back at the Antioch Marina (where we were a few days ago) on our way back down the delta towards Berkeley.  But here's a few photos of our adventure up at Locke that we felt needed to be posted:

Great Leg!  Ya meet all types up the river in the little taverns/bars with docks along the river.

This place was called Giusti's,  an Italian dining place after 4pm:   this was early afternoon on a hot delta day.  Everyone here came by boat for a cold one or wine tasting. Near good wine country!  It was 95-ish degrees outside and the a/c and beer were wonderful, as were the characters inside!

They called this area a "hunters paradise" on the sign on the roof... Jan didnt like that.

We slept in the cockpit, just like on the African Queen.  The stars were amazing.  But the big dipper was in the wrong place and was standing up funny.

As we left the next morning,  fish rising for  the bugs on the water and turtles too, with plenty big heron working the shore.

This is where were were. We had come up from the right, and we are the triangle.  The big river is the Sacramento river,  the town of Locke is actually accessed by that river. We hiked thru the woods to get to Chinatown.  See the lower waterway:  well, we tried to get thru there, but those red lines are a Dam. "Oops,  need to  turn around skipper.  Its narrow here Miss,  3-point turn works for me Miss"

So back out the way we came,  25 miles of winding river. No one fell overboard and we just scooted with the tide back to civilzation. Jan got to radio the bridge guys,  she flirts with them.

We took "three mile cut," a waterway from the San Joaquin to Sacramento river for some different scenery as we made our way toward SF bay.  Wind was strong on the Sac river.  Steady 25 kts on the nose and gusts to 30.  Great spot for windsurfing and kites!

About equal number of kites and windsurfers,  but good to see so many windsurfers,  They stayed in a different area.   I'd say its a ten mile stretch of river they play in, by the wind mill farm.  Jan felt bad for the broken wind mills.

Back to Antiaoch where we stayed a few nights ago,  a nice facility and "Humphery's" bar was hopping with a live band on the deck.  Jan had a big Sangria and calamari...  I think she likes this boating life style!   But maybe nicer marinas more than Amazonia.

OOPS,  pics in wrong order.  Oh well,  this wind farm in Collinsville was amazing,  hundreds of silent power makers.  Wind power is the answer for Hawaii.  Why not put them along the ridge tops and paint them green?

We are pulling out now with the tide at 7 am  for our run up to our reservered slip near Berkely,  a few hour run.  Then we get the van and head for the next adventure..

TRUCKEE ~ Tahoe,  Dr. Jack's place!
Stay tuned, you better not go away!
