Napa to Antioch Marina!

We departed the Napa Valley Marina yesterday around 2pm CA time for a very nice 7-mile motor down the Napa River.

Hoisting up our American and local-style colors upon leaving the harbor.

A beautiful sight, and day, indeed!

Some of the very nice homes along the riverfront.

We passed underneath a couple of bridges, one of them the "Mares Island Causeway," we had to call the tower to request that they raise the bridge up for us.

Underneath one bridge...

Approaching the Mares Island Causeway bridge.  Got on the phone and called the tower to please...

...raise the bridge for us.  Waved a "Mahalo" to the man in the tower as we passed underneath, and the California drivers honked their horns to tell us to "hurry up!"

Some of the sights we saw along the waterway:

A high-speed ferry like the one we took from SF to Vallejo.  In fact, we sailed right past the Vallejo terminal.

Then, down to the more IMPORTANT things, like..

...a mid-afternoon snack of Greek yogurt, Honey-Bunches-of-Oats and sliced bananas!
Yes, that's a fork in the left bowl, I only brought one spoon for some strange reason.

We then made a left-turn onto the Sacramento River.  It was a strong floodtide, giving us 3 extra knots of speed up the river towards the delta.

At the helm and, yes, it was cold for the local girl.

Hey, watch where you're going!  The wind came behind us so we rolled out the genoa.  7.5 knots thanks to the tide...and the engine.  Motorsailing at its best!

A graveyard for military ships.  Such a waste!

The cargo ship "Genco Wisdom" out of Hong Kong.  186 meters (613.80 ft.) long:  Thanks Google!
This ship totally dwarfed us as we sailed by the Pittsburg, CA loading docks.

Isn't this just THE cutest lifeboat you've EVER seen?  Hey wait, there's no windows...
From the Genco Wisdom.

Landscape of windmills.

Just outside the Antioch Marina, we were treated to this beautiful sunset after motorsailing  for 6.5 hours.

After tying up at the Guest dock, we got down to business...DINNER!

Jan frying up some potatoes with onions and fresh garlic...I LOVE my electric skillet!

...and VOILA!  Dinner of potatoes, steak, cole slaw and iced Sangria!

Not long after dinner and finishing up a Netflix, we turned in for the night.  Stay tuned for more adventures tomorrow as we motorsail up-river to Korth's Pirate's Lair on Bouldin Island.
:o)
