DEPARTURE DAY!

Today is THE day!

The boys were excited to get going, and I was too but also melancholy as I am leaving beautiful Lopez Island.

We woke at 5am, got everything that wasn't already on the boat put together and piled it into the back of Jerry's truck...

The Captain and his trusty crew, Tom.
Smile boys, its not THAT cold...

Let's see, outboard motor, wine, more wine, clothes, cooler...
Yup, we got everything!

Everything that was taken to the dock we put into the dinghy and rowed to the boat.

First load.

 Second load.

 Wait, am I going straight????

Final load, mostly consisting of Paul and Tom.
Whew!

'Bye hun, I'll see you in San Francisco!
Trimming-Out awaits in the background.

Even Harold the Harbor Seal came out to say
"Good-bye."

The anchor was hoisted and they were off...

Coming out the final stretch of Fisherman Bay...

Staying close to the red marker, as per Jerry's instructions, to miss the submerged rock that a lot of people hit!

Passing me as I stood at the "Bay Cafe" to shoot these photos.

And on out to the sound, where they made a left turn into the San Juan Channel that will take them to Neah Bay, their last stop to re-fuel before another left turn into the Pacific Ocean!

Coming out around the spit...

...in the San Juan Channel, with San Juan Island behind them.  Winds from the south, but they have the current in their favor.

The next time I will see Paul will be in San Francisco!  In the meantime, I am flying to Phoenix to spend time with my dad, who just turned 90!

Stay tuned, the adventure's not over yet!

Aloha Lopez Island, I will miss you, but I will be back!
