OTTERRRRRS!

Woke early this morning to see the otters on the dinghy dock, and there they were!  4 of them, quite large and just playing around but we think they came to the dock to poop.  They scurried and slinked into the dark water when they saw us, but I managed to grab a few pics of them. They sure are cute, though.

It was cold, gray and raining when we met up with Dan and Dr. Jack, the world-famous equine vet to go salmon-fishing.   Motored to the west side of San Juan Island and we trolled, and trolled, and trolled.  Nothing, and we didn't see anyone else catching fish either, even though the fish-finder said there were fish all around us!  Temperature was around 60 degrees, with water temp at 46.3F!  You DON'T wanna fall in. but we did see some pretty amazing houses on the bluffs.  This particular house was renovated by Jerry, and has a sod-roof.  The structure on the right is the pool house with an attached bedroom/bath and there's a total of 4 houses and a red barn (this is on the Lopez Island Historical Register) on the property.

After a few hours of that, we checked Dan's crab-pots and ended up with 3 nice-sized Dungeness crab:  the rest we had to toss back due to either size or being female. But I learned how to distinguish between the sexes, all while watching out for their pinchers!

Heading to "Hale Keffler" later this evening for pulled pork sliders, crab, king salmon, cole slaw and lots of wine and beer!
