"Hale Keffler"

Remember the crab we caught?
Cooked to perfection!

Last night we all went to "Hale Keffler" (Keffler's House)  on Davis Bay, Lopez Island.  The picture windows front the bay,

where I've seen some beautiful sunsets.  The house was built in 1970, completed in 1972,  Jerry was involved in the construction, living in a trailer on the property.  Dan's dad, Gary, holds the world's record for free-diving octopus wrestling, and could hold his breath for 4 minutes in doing so.  This, unfortunately, took a toll on his heart and eleven years ago underwent a heart transplant and he now has the heart of a 38-yr. woman.  He is also the longest-living heart transplant recipient to date.  Keff's parents are awesome people and I thank them for their hospitality.

AND, this is the same bay where Paul tested his new full wetsuit!

Dan is an excellent cook and treated us to BBQ pulled pork sandwiches with cole slaw, spiral-cut ham and fresh green beans with onions and, I think, bacon.  Lots of red wine, beer and laughs.  Hearing the stories of these "hooligans," Paul, Dan, Jerry and Dr. Jack, were too funny!

Today, 7/17/2011, we had a farewell lunch for Dr. Jack  at "The Galley"and Paul, Jerry and I rode in the truckbed to the restaurant.  Highly illegal, according to Jerry!

Walking back to Jerry's, shot some photos of the foliage here on Lopez.

As well as some Canadian geese cruising by, and young apples and blackberries.  When they're ripe, LOOK OUT!
